'Rishi Kapoor and Tina Munim [Ambani ] will always remain founder members of Mukta Arts due to their role in our first film 'Karz' which is still as fresh as Rishi Kapoor today!' said Subhash Ghai on the eve of celebrating the 31st anniversary of Mukta Arts Ltd on 24th October, 2009. The company which has grown in its business since 1978 to now be present in movie production, distribution, exhibition and education had an evening of nostalgia when stars like Shahrukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif, sunny deol, jacki shroff, kiron kher and Rishi Kapoor were given mementos on stage for their invaluable contribution to Mukta’s films by celebrities like Karan Johar, Randhir Kapoor, Imtiaz Ali, Prasoon Joshi and Abbas Tyrewala. Shahrukh and Hrithik shared their great moments of working with Subhash Ghai and Mukta Arts and its technicians. Whilegoing through the journey of his company Mr. Ghai narrated some interesting moments about each star like Shahrukh, Hrithik and Katrina who he had met as newcomers. Rishi Kapoor told of his first experience with Subhashji as director on the set of 'Karz' when he demanded a dance director to shoot the famous 'Dard-e-Dil' song but Ghai told him 'this song needs a director not a choreographer' and Rishi had to succumb till he saw the final edit of the song on screen and was amazed with the sense of music Ghai had.
There were glittering screens all over venue with VIP's from industry and the entertainment business gathering, one projecting the shots of the working behind all Mukta films like 'Hero', 'Ram Lakhan', 'Karma', 'Saudagar', 'Khalnayak', 'Pardes', 'Taal', 'Jaan', 'Iqbal', 'Aitraaz', 'Ek Aur Ek Gyarah' and 'Black and White'. The other screen was projecting the growth of Whistling Woods International Film Institute in Mumbai since last three years which is now spreading its wings in Hyderabad and many other states and countries.
The famous directors who directed many hit films under the Mukta Arts banner were also felicitated with mementos. Directors like David Dhawan, Satish Kaushik, Sangeeth Sivan and Abbas Mastan received mementos from Aviation Minister Praful Patel, Industrialist Gautam Singhania, media baron Subhash Chandra Goel and John Lee, the Dean of Whistling Woods.
Meghna Ghai-Puri, the President of Whistling Woods and Subhash ghai's daughter conducted the show and invited heads of music companies, Ramesh Taurani from Tips and Bhushan Kumar from T-series along with lyricist Sameer and singer Alka Yagnik for their significant contribution in Mukta Arts’ strength today as one the leading corporate company’s in the entertainment space. Film-maker Karan Johar summed up the evening in his speech, 'I am indebted to Subhashji because I have grown up watching his wonderful movies and my father wanted me to follow in his footsteps as he is a benchmark of success which we all are still striving to get.'
It also happened to be the wedding anniversary of Subhash Ghai and his wife Mukta who were congratulated by stars, friends, family and the entire team of Mukta Arts and a gala party till late hours.
