Sukhvinder Singh has never yet been in his element as a composer. And Ebraheem Ashk has penned good but light lyrics for many a film. But together and along with Subhash Ghai, they come up high trumps in a score that blends the best of Indiannes (the song are completely variegated) with contemporary sounds.
Lyrically and compositionally the score is on par with latter day Subhash Ghai scores like Khalnayak, Pardes, Taal and Kisna. Ashk’s lyrics in Yeh Hindustaan Hain and Main Chala and its female version Main Chali stand out. The ominous orchestral beats of this otherwise L-P like melody convey the tense under currents of the story brilliantly.
Sukhvider also gets the feel perfect in the Sufiana Haq Allah and Sadhna Sargam outclasses even his vocal prowess in Jogi aaya.
This is must buy album in these discordant days.
