He just played the role of a journalist in ‘Mission Istaanbul’. And while neither his performance nor the film got much appreciation, he now gears up to play something he is good at. Zayed Khan would be next seen in Subhash Ghai’s ‘Yuvraaj’ where he plays a brat.
Zayed sounds preety excited about Subhash Ghai movie. This is the first time he is working with the director and is, apparently, mighty impressed with his style. Talking about the film, he says, “’Yuvraaj’ is like a ‘Bold and Beautiful’ on steroids. It is a full family drama. It’s a musical and has got a bit from all of his (Ghai’s) films.” According to the actor, ‘Yuvraaj’ has a dash of ‘Karz’ and a feel of ‘Saudagar’ and all his rest movies. “It has got a feel of all his lovely films which had everything from family values and betrayals and deceits in place!” he says.
Zayed would be sharing screen with Salman Khan and Anil Kapoor in the movie. “Salman and I play brothers, Anil is the autistic brother,” he says. “While I am the brat, Salman is the disowned brother,” he reveals. The film also stars Katrina Kaif and has been shot extensively in the picturesque locales of Switzerland.
And after this Zayed would also be seen in ‘Blue’, which is an out-and-out action film. The film promises to show some of the most dangerous stunts in Indian films. Most of them will be underwater sequence. Zayed, who had debuted with the thriller ‘Chura Liya Hai Tumne’, has been seen in quite a few action movies. In fact, ‘Mission Istaanbul’ had a good amount of action involving Zayed. “I am scared doing the stunts sometimes, but ‘dar ke aagey jeet hai’!” he grins. The actor says he does take the necessary precautions when he does the action sequences himself. “But I ask a stuntman to do it first to see how he does it. And then I do it,” he adds.
Zayed was initially approached for a guest appearance in the film which he has refused (the role which was finally done by Suniel Shetty). His role was offered to Bobby Deol at first. “Apoo (director Apoorva Lakhia) came to me with this special appearance. I told him I am not a Hrithik Roshan or an Abhishek Bachahan to do a special appearance. If I do a role like that in the film people will think I did a small role,” he says aabout the special appearance. However, he was more than happy to take the main role. He recollects how he had gone to Ajmer Sharif and within a week Bobby happened to walk out of the film and he was offered the role. “I called up Bobby and got his clearance. He asked me to go ahead with it. He was very gracious,” he recalls.
