The A.R. Rahman-Gulzar team has never failed, and Yuvvraaj with Subhash Ghai at the helm could not have been an exception. Leagues ahead of the other tracks is Tu muskura (Alka-Javed Ali) easily one of the five finest songs of the year so far. Alka’s breathtaking rendition and the nuances of the mukhda are enough to create a spell that lingers - and lingers, like Gulzar’s very un-Gulzar-like dew-light lyrics.
Tu meri dost hain (Shreya-Rahman-Benny Dayal) and the classical Manmohini more (Vijay Prakash) are worthy tracks. Wish the rest of the songs could have been on par with these super three. Never mind, the album’s worth a buy for these three tracks alone.
