PROFESSIONALS AT WWI’

“It’s time we realize that the only person who can save the recession in the industry is a Script Writer! The need for films backed by great scripts has become a necessity for the industry- but scriptwriters are still a rare find. There are very few scriptwriters to support the demand of films being made”, said Subhash Ghai at the closing session of an extensive 5 day Screenwriting workshop held at Whistling Woods International in association with the Film Writers Association (FWA) . 170 writers participated  and gained knowledge from reputed writers like Jaideep Sahni, Abbas Tyrewala, Sriram Raghavan and Anjum Rajabali. Mr. Ghai thanked the FWA  and shared his experience of having written 18 scripts for Mukta Arts  out of which 14  went on to become blockbuster films. He insisted ‘Even today there will always be an audience for movies backed by good scripts. Jaane Tu and Rock On are commercial films made on the strength of Script, not the Stars ..!

Emphasizing, the importance of professional training in Screenwriting, Anjum  Rajabali said “We have  many talented writers in India but what they lack is the craft of creative writing.
