Whistling Woods students compliment Rohan Sippy for showcasing true digital cinema before an Indian audience

Rohan Sippy ,the first producer to put true digital cinema before an Indian audience - from acquisition all the way to flawless projection of the final image, is passionate about driving change, and believes that there is a market for fresh films.
When producer Rohan Sippy , director Kunaal Roy Kapur and writer Anuvab Pal, a successful Wall Street banker turned playwright  visited WWI, it naturally made for one of the most scintillating and lively Master Classes of the year.  The Class was held following a screening of The President is Coming (2009), an English language film about new India based on the popular satirical play with the same title.
Both director Kunaal and writer Anuvab focused on the challenges faced in incorporating the visual elements required for adapting their theatrical success to the screen, hence the “Mockumentary” style, with the camera itself treated as a character. Anuvab enjoyed the question posed by a student about whether this was a film or a series of gags--“it made one rethink one’s career in a great way.” In answer to a student’s question on choosing English as opposed to “Hinglish”, Rohan admitted to doing “a rethink on the feasibility of making films in English if it translates into a limiting audience.”
The youthful trio of filmmakers on their part enjoyed their interaction with the attentive student audience and had this to say: “It’s great to see young people picking up skills that are essential to film-making; great to meet future story-tellers so early on. A really wonderful institute, a great atmosphere to learn!”
