Director Subhash Ghai has signed Anurag Basu to direct a film for Mukta Arts. Confirming the news, Basu said, “It is true that I have been signed to work as a director for Mukta Arts. Ghai and I met continuously for practically a year. He was always keen that I direct a film for Mukta Arts. So we finally worked out the modalities and Mukta Arts has officially signed me as their director.” Basu however says that he had not yet zeroed in on any particular subject for Mukta Arts. “The film that I direct for Mukta Arts, will take time to take-off. But we should begin the project sometime during the end of the year.” He adds, “At the moment, my sole focus is on Metro, that I am making for UTV which stars Kay Kay Menon, Shilpa Shetty, Konkona Sen Sharma, Shiney Ahuja, Irrfan Khan, Kangana Raut and Sharman Joshi.” “After that I will embark on Suicide Bomber a film that I am making for the Bhatts. It will mark the debut of Rahul Bhatt as an actor. He is the only actor finalized at the moment. The rest of the cast has yet to be decided upon. It is only when these two films are completed that I will start the film that I am to make for Mukta Arts,” explains Basu. Making a film for the Bhatts? Did we hear that right? The general impression was that Basu didn’t want to associate with the Bhatt camp any more. “That’s not true at all! Out of the films offered to me to direct, my top priority any day would be to make a film for the Bhatts. They have stood by me and I will stand by them. After all, it was they who gave me my first break,” he points out. When asked if the title of Metro has been changed to Life in A Metro, he says “The title of the film continue to be Metro. I don’t know if the producers want to change it at the time when the film is completed.” |
