Subhash Ghai’s Whistling Woods International pay tribute to Dadasaheb Phalke, the father of Indian Cinema. - April 30th 2006

 
     
 

On April 30th 2006, Whistling Woods International Chairman, Mr. Subhash Ghai was invited as Guest of Honour to the Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Awards. The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is an annual award organised by the All India Film Industry comprising of all the 25 associations of the artiste and technicians. It was instituted in 1969, the birth centenary year of Dadasaheb Phalke, who is considered the father of Indian Cinema.

At the occasion of the 137th Birth Anniversary of Dadasaheb Phalke, Subhash Ghai in his address announced to sponsor the Annual Award Function every year. The Chairman of the Academy Mr. Santosh Jain complimented Subhash Ghai and his ambitious vision for Whistling Woods International – Institute for Film, Television & Media Arts. He said that by opening a world-class state-of-the-art film school in Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagri (also known as Filmcity, Mumbai), Subhash Ghai was giving a real tribute to the dreams of Dadasaheb Phalke.
