When SRK stirred up a storm…

If you’re wondering where most personalities from the film, corporate and political world were on Tuesday afternoon, well, they were all gathered at Film City to join in filmmaker Subhash Ghai’s celebrations. A visibly contented Ghai, accompanied by daughter Meghna, personally welcomed the distinguished guests. The inaugural lamp was lit by chief guest Dilip Kumar along with wife Saira Banu, Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel, I&B Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi and Suresh and Meera Kalmadi.

Hema Malini, looking gorgeous in a turquoise sari, spoke excitedly about her two passions – acting and dancing. Shabana Azmi and Kirron Kher, who met each other after a long time, happily caught up with one another. Zeenat Aman, looking as ravishing as ever; garnered a bouquet of compliments, but giving her some serious competition was Poonam Sinha, who, accompanied by son Luv walked in wearing a flared, yellow skirt, causing everyone to do a double-take!

Fellow directors Karan Johar and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra were present to support their ‘elder brother’, as Rakeysh put it. Tusshar Kapoor entered along with father Jeetendra, but dashed in and out before too many could get a glimpse. ‘Got to go for a shoot,’ was Tusshar’s parting shot. Nagesh Kukunoor was overheard talking about a recently concluded grueling shooting schedule. ‘I was totally cut off from the world an I think that’s the best way to function in a creative field.’

Other guests included Anand and Anuradha Mahindra, Vinod and Kavita Khanna and Jackie Shroff (back to his dapper clean-shaven avatar and sans the bandana), amongst many others.

Surprise! Surprise guests at the do included Amit and Dheeraj Deshmukh who it seemed were filling in for their father CM Vilasrao Deshmukh and brother Riteish.

However, the biggest surprise at the event was none other than the King Khan himself! Shah Rukh Khan whipped up a frenzy with his presence, especially when he accompanied Dilipsaab on eh dais. It was a treat to the eyes to see the two superstars sharing a heartfelt moment.
