Mumbai, March 31, 2010: Inaugurating the Whistling Woods Short Courses in Acting, Online Screenwriting, Writing for TV, Film Appreciation, renowned film director, Karan Johar congratulated Subhash Ghai and the WWI Management by saying, “More power to Whistling Woods International for launching these courses and giving students an opportunity to enter the industry as trained professionals; it is huge growth of a media institute like WWI. Pioneering the education of filmmaking and production, Subhash Ghai's Whistling Woods International (WWI) has introduced the WWI Short Course Unit from April 12,2010, giving professionals and amateurs, an opportunity to explore specific aspects of Television and Motion Picture production in the 20-acre campus in Filmcity, Mumbai and these courses shall be taught by renowned professionals from India and abroad.
Though the regular Two year Diploma courses and workshops offer a range of technical and creative options that combine teaching with real world production in Acting, Cinematography, Direction, Editing, Producing, Screenwriting, Sound Recording & Design, henceforth there will be short courses ranging from 3 months to 12 months in Music, Multi-cam Production, Corporate Communication, Production Design, Film Appreciation, Still Photography and Animation too.
Speaking on the new programme by Whistling Woods International, Founder, Subhash Ghai said, “There have been so many requests and so much demand for the last two years from professionals, amateurs, employers, employees, and from homemakers to start short courses that our management has decided to provide quality education with flexible timings to all the aspirants in acting, filmmaking and TV productions.”
Meghna Ghai-Puri, President, Whistling Woods International, said, “After researching several reputed Institutes in North America and Europe, my Academic team and the Management decided to launch a series of Short Courses which would allow MBA students or working professionals to try their hand at various areas in filmmaking including photography, music or just enhance their knowledge by being part of our Film Appreciation programme. Our next step with the WWI Short Course Unit is to invite Industry professionals to attend workshops to enhance their skills. This is popular practice in Hollywood amongst actors and technicians."
The launch was followed by an interactive Q & A session between Karan Johar and the 400 students in the auditorium of Whistling Woods anchored by Subhash Ghai himself . Karan shared all his experiences during the making of MINK and said “In filmmaking every director has to grow more than his previous films in terms of content too and I am glad that MINK gave me the opportunity to do so."
